returns for his second season as the Rays' Double-A coach...He
served as hitting coach for AAA Indianapolis (Brewers) in
2001-2002...In 2000, he managed the Class-A Lakeland Tigers
to a 52-58 record in his lone season as a manger...Previously,
Barnes coached the Tigers' organization with Class-A Western
Michigan (1997-98) and AAA Toledo (1995-96, 99)...Originally
drafted by his hometown Reds, Barnes played 17 years in professional
baseball including nine in the big leagues...He started at
every position in his career except pitcher and catcher...He
and his wife Karen reside in Indianapolis and have one daughter,
Christy. |
