MONTGOMERY -
The Southern League released its South Division All-Star
team Tuesday, and six Montgomery Biscuits were
named.
Catcher John
Jaso, batting .256 with five home runs and 34 RBIs, made
his second consecutive Southern League All-Star
Game. The 24-year-old has been a minor
league all-star for four consecutive
seasons.
Outfielder
Rashad Eldridge was named to the team despite being on
Montgomery's disabled list since June 16. The
26-year-old is hitting .301-0-31 with 13 stolen
bases.
Gaby Martinez,
Montgomery's leader in home runs (12) and RBIs (55) was
named to the team as a designated hitter. It is
his first SL All-Star selection.
Pitchers James
Houser and Wade Davis were also selected to the 10-man
pitching staff. Houser (3-2) leads the team with a
3.19 ERA. Davis is 7-6 with a 4.14 ERA and 69
strikeouts.
Left-handed starter Jake McGee was also named to the team but will not play, due to his elbow injury.
Because the
Biscuits were South Division champions in 2007,
Montgomery's coaching staff will represent the division
in the mid-summer classic. Manager Billy Gardner,
Pitching Coach Neil Allen, Coach Ben Oglivie and
Athletic Trainer Joel Smith will all attend.
The game is at
7:05 on Monday, July 14 at Five County Stadium, the home
of the Carolina Mudcats.
