Price, Biscuits blank Barons, 2-0
Biscuits win 10th straight road game

HOOVER - The Montgomery Biscuits (28-18; 62-54) won their 10th consecutive road game at Regions Park Thursday night, shutting out the Birmingham Barons (22-24; 62-54), 2-0, in the second game of a five-game series.

Starting Pitcher David Price (7-0) earned the win, just the Biscuits' third shutout victory of the season. The win moved Price to 11-0 in his professional career.

Price walked two in a shaky first inning before recovering to strike out two, ending the inning. He cruised through five innings, allowing only three singles and four walks and striking out seven. He stranded seven Barons on base, including two in scoring position in his final inning.

The Biscuits managed the game-winner in the third inning against Birmingham starter Kyle McCulloch. The Biscuits had loaded the bases with one out on three singles, but McCulloch came one step away from ending the inning by inducing a popup from Chris Nowak. With a 1-and-2 count to Rhyne Hughes, however, his next pitch struck Hughes in the leg and scored Johnny Raburn.

The Biscuits added another tally in the fourth on a Craig Albernaz single.

Steve Andrade (2 IP), Roger Deago (1 IP) and Neal Frontz (1 IP, Save) each added scoreless relief.

Montgomery has won 15 of its last 16 road games, dating back to the beginning of July. The Biscuits stayed 1 1/2 games behind the Mississippi Braves for the division lead.

The series' middle game is Friday at 7:05 p.m., with Montgomery righty Jeremy Hellickson opposing Birmingham lefty Aaron Poreda.
