Biscuits experience highs and lows in rollercoaster loss, 6-4
Errors cost Montgomery game with two outs in ninth

MONTGOMERY - The 5,917 fans at Riverwalk Stadium Wednesday night went through delerious cheering and silent sorrow all in the span of 15 minutes, as the Montgomery Biscuits (5-10; 39-46) wrested the lead from and then lost to the Mississippi Braves (10-5; 40-45).

With the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth, Colter Bean had faltered but still had a clear path to nailing down a 4-3 Biscuits win. He induced a routine ground ball to the right side from leadoff man J.C. Holt. Second baseman Josh Asanovich misplayed the ball into a two-base error, allowing Mississippi to snatch the lead from the jaws of defeat. On the same play, right fielder Johnny Raburn skipped a throw into the stands near third base, scoring a third run.

The miscues overturned a brand new Biscuits lead that they had built in the previous half inning. With Montgomery trailing, 2-1, Asanovich led off with a solo homer against Auburn alum Michael Nix. Later in the inning, Chris Nowak slashed a two-out double to right field to give the Biscuits their first lead of the night.

It was Nowak's second double of the game, giving him a total of 13 total bases and 10 RBIs in the three games of the series.

The Braves had built the lead against Montgomery starter Jeremy Hellickson, who lasted only four innings, allowing five hits and two runs, including a Reid Gorecki home run. Meanwhile, the Biscuits got only two hits in six innings against Braves starter Kris Medlen, but they made one of them count, as Rhyne Hughes walked and John Jaso doubled him home in the fourth.

Jason Cromer and Brian Henderson provided excellent relief, with Cromer facing just nine hitters in three scoreless innings. Henderson allowed back-to-back singles to lead off the eighth but escaped for a scoreless inning.

Bean lost the game and suffered his first blown save of the year. Nix also blew a save but got the win.

The Braves go for a series split Thursday night as they pit righty James Parr against Montgomery's Jino Gonzalez at 7:05.
