BayBears top sloppy Biscuits, 5-3
Biscuits commit all-time high five errors in loss

MOBILE - The Montgomery Biscuits (3-8; 37-44) committed an all-time high five errors in a sloppy, rain-soaked 5-3 loss to the Mobile BayBears (5-6; 34-47) Saturday night.

The Biscuits waited through a 1 hour, 15 minute rain delay in the third inning with a newly-established 1-0 lead, built on a Rhyne Hughes double. Upon the resumption of play, however, the Biscuits' defense abandoned them.

Jason Cromer, pitching in relief of Biscuits starter Jino Gonzalez, allowed an unearned run to tie the game in the bottom of the third after a Chris Nowak error and a Rusty Ryal RBI single. Former BayBear Roger Deago got the worst of it, though, allowing two unearned runs in Montogmery's three-error sixth inning.

That sixth inning tied the game, since the Biscuits had established a 3-1 lead on a fifth-inning triple by Chris Nowak and a Sergio Pedroza double in the sixth.

The BayBears pounded out three consecutive two-out hits in the seveth to plate the two difference-making runs and take a permanent 5-3 lead. The Biscuits loaded the bases in the eighth inning but failed to score, leaving 10 runners on base in the game.

Nowak made three of the five errors. The Biscuits are the first team in the Southern League this season to make five errors.

Montgomery tries to split the six-game series in the final game, Sunday at 6:05 p.m. Montgomery righty Wade Davis faces Mobile righthander Brooks Brown.
