Price wins debut in Biscuits' 8-2 victory
Five-run seventh aids top pick's win

MOBILE - David Price (1-0) struck out seven and used a five-run seventh inning by the Montgomery Biscuits (3-6; 37-42) to win his Double-A debut at Hank Aaron Stadium Thrusday night over the Mobile BayBears (3-6; 32-47).
Price lasted six innings, walking three and hitting a batter in his final inning. He trailed after his last of an unofficial 92 pitches, allowing just four hits. But the Biscuits' offense made a winner of him in the five-run seventh.
Matt Spring and J.T. Hall led off the inning with singles against reliever Vince Bongiovanni. Though Montgomery had led off four of six innings with hits against starter Cody Evans (6 IP, 7 H, 1 ER), they had failed to score in any of them. Ronnie Merrill followed Spring and Hall by beating out a would-be sacrifice bunt to load the bases. Pinch hitter Gaby Martinez tied the game at two with a sacrifice fly to center field, and John Jaso provided the Biscuits with the lead by mashing a two-run triple to right. The following hitter Chris Nowak launched a moonshot home run to left, making the score 6-2. It was Nowak's fourth hit of the game.
The Biscuits added two more in the ninth on a solo homer by Josh Asanovich and a run-producing double by Rhyne Hughes.
Price, in his seventh professional start, set down the BayBears in order in the first two innings before walking one and allowing two hits in the third. A two-out single by Brian Byrne scored Mobile's first run. The only other scored on a go-ahead, bases-loaded walk by John Hester in the sixth.
Former BayBear Roger Deago took advantage of two double plays by his defense in two scoreless innings of relief. Colter Bean struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to finish it off.
The Biscuits, now leading the series 2-1, send righty Jeremy Hellickson to the mound Friday night against Mobile righty Cesar Valdez, with each pitcher making their own Double-A debut. Gametime is 7:05.
