BayBears even series with win
|
MOBILE - The Mobile BayBears (3-5; 32-46) jumped on Montgomery Biscuits starter James Houser (3-2) at Hank Aaron Stadium Wednesday night for six runs on six hits and led the Biscuits (2-6; 36-42) the entire way, evening the six-game series with a 6-4 win.
The BayBears, last in the league in home runs, got power-happy early on. Javier Brito's two-run homer in the first set the tone, and Chris Rahl added a solo blast of his own the following inning. Houser ran into more trouble in the third inning and departed in the fifth, allowing two more runs. In total (4.0 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4 K, HBP, 2 BK) it was one of the worst outings of the year for Houser.
Rhyne Hughes plated one run in the third on a two-out single and got three more in the eighth on Chris Nowak's seventh home run of the year. It was not enough to catch the BayBears, although the Biscuits brought the tying run to the plate twice.
The Biscuits' bullpen of Jason Cromer (2.0 IP), Eddie Morlan (1.2 IP) and Brian Henderson (0.1 IP) pitched scoreless relief.
David Price makes his long-awaited Biscuits debut Thursday night in the third game of the series. He will meet Hector Ambriz at 7:05.
