Lookouts catch up to Biscuits, 4-1
Montgomery's streak stops at five
|
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Chattanooga Lookouts (26-27) ended the Montgomery Biscuits' (26-27) winning streak at five at AT&T Field Wednesday night with a 4-1 triumph, their first win of the series.
Montgomery took an early lead against Chattanooga starter Travis Wood when Gaby Martinez sliced his seventh homer of the season over the left field wall.
It was all the Biscuits managed against Wood, who threw six innings and struck out eight.
Montgomery spot starter Kevin Lynn was outstanding, allowing just one run in five innings. He allowed four hits and no walks, striking out three. The Lookouts only got to him in the fifth, when Eric Eymann scratched out a two-out infield single and scored on a Chris Denove double.
The eventual game-winner scored in the sixth after Lynn departed. Jino Gonzalez got one out but then walked two and allowed a single, departing with the bases loaded. Colter Bean entered to allow an RBI infield single to Sean Henry but escaped without further damage.
The capper came in the eighth when Henry hit a two-run blast against Brian Henderson.
The Biscuits stayed five games behind Birmingham in the Southern League South.
The series hits game four Thursday night, with Biscuits lefty James Houser taking the mound at 6:15 Central Time.
