Biscuits win again, 5-1
Club's win over Chattanooga is fifth straight

7th: Chris Nowak's double gives the Biscuits a 2-1 lead

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Wade Davis pitched a gem and the Montgomery Biscuits (26-26) won their fifth straight at AT&T Field Tuesday night, getting back to .500 with a 3-1 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts (25-27).

It was the Biscuits' 11th win in their last 13 games, and it puts them even at .500 for the first time since they were 2-2 on April 6.

Davis equalled a season high by pitching seven innings, allowing only one run on two hits. All of that offense came in the Lookouts' second, when Danny Dorn led off the inning with a double and scored on an Eric Eymann single. Davis walked one batter and hit another, striking out five.

Lookouts starter Sam LeCure matched him through six innings, allowing only four hits and a run, striking out a season-high eight. The Biscuits only got to him in the top of the second, with Sergio Pedroza slamming a single off of the right field wall to score Chris Nowak.

Lecure's high strikeout total cost him, though, as he reached his pitch limit after six innings. This allowed the Biscuits to earn Davis his fifth win of the year.

Montgomery got him the requisite runs in the seventh, with three straight hits leading off the inning against reliever Carlos Fisher. John Jaso chopped an infield single and scored on a Nowak double. The third baseman, in turn, scored on a Gaby Martinez single.

Roger Deago pitched a perfect eighth inning and was lifted after one pitch in the ninth, when he allowed a bunt single to former Biscuit Shaun Cumberland. Steve Andrade arrived to create three out from two hitters, getting a groundball double play from Sean Henry and striking out Tonys Gutierrez to earn his fourth save.

Montgomery is now 17-9 in May after a 9-17 April.

The middle game of the series Wednesday features two pitchers -- Biscuits righty Kevin Lynn and Chattanooga lefty Travis Wood -- in their first Double-A starts. Gametime is 6:15 Central time.
