Biscuits win 4th straight, 2-1 over Smokies
Biscuits walk off with win for second time in series

MONTGOMERY – The Montgomery Biscuits (19-24) won their fourth consecutive ballgame Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium, walking off in the bottom of the ninth for the second time in the series against the Tennessee Smokies (15-28).
The game was tied at one apiece until the ninth. Biscuits first baseman Rhyne Hughes smacked a double to left field to begin the bottom of the inning against Tennessee's Jim Henderson (0-1). John Jaso popped out for the first out of the inning, but a wild pitch moved Hughes to third. Chris Nowak then sent one on the ground to drawn-in second baseman Matt Matulia. The normally sure glove man took his eye off the ball and misplayed the easy grounder, scoring Hughes for the win.
Biscuits starter James Houser (0-1) took another no decision, despite allowing just one run on four hits in six innings. Houser permitted a run on a Joe Simokaitis groundout in the second inning, after walking two.
The Biscuits scored their first run in the first inning on a one-out single by John Jaso. Smokies starter Mark Holliman allowed just four hits and no more runs in his five innings.
Montgomery got good bullpen work out of Jason Cromer, who threw two scoreless innings. Anniston native Colter Bean, in his Biscuits debut, pitched a scoreless ninth and got the win.
The win is the Biscuits' third straight at home. They have also won six straight against Tennessee and lead the season series, 7-1.
Game four of the series is Sunday at 2:05 with Richard De Los Santos (3-3) on the mound for Montgomery.
