Biscuits outlast Braves, 9-6
Montgomery comes from behind to win series opener

7th: Hughes doubles to put Montgomery up for good

PEARL, Miss. – Mississippi native Rhyne Hughes crashed a two-run double in the seventh inning at Trustmark Park Saturday night, completing a comeback for the Montgomery Biscuits on their way to a 9-6 win in the series opener over the Mississippi Braves.

Hughes's two-out double against Mississippi reliever Sung Ki Jung scored John Jaso and Chris Nowak, capping a four-run inning and providing Montgomery with a 5-4 lead. It also took starter Jake McGee, who had allowed three runs in the sixth, off the hook.

McGeehad allowed one run in the fifth and departed in the sixth with the bases loaded and one out. Jason Cromer entered, allowing all three inherited runners to score but calming things down with a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Cromer, the Biscuits' all-time wins leader, won his first of the season.

Montgomery ran away with it with a four-run eighth, which included a two-run single by Rashad Eldridge. The Biscuits' leadoff man was 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs and three runs.

Steve Andrade nailed down his second save by striking out three in a scoreless ninth.

The second game of the series is Sunday afternoon at 1:05, with Montgomery righty Wade Davis on the mound.
