Anderson Leads Biscuits to Fifth in a Row
Shortstop records first four-hit game of the season for Montgomery, Biscuits win 8-4

MONTGOMERY, AL - Drew Anderson recorded the first four-hit game of the season for the Biscuits, and Montgomery used a season-high 13 hits to sink the Mudcats 8-4 for their fifth consecutive win Thursday at Five County Stadium in North Carolina.

The Mudcats took a short-lived lead in the first inning. Kris Negron doubled off Biscuits starter Aneury Rodriguez and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Eric Eyeman then scored Negron with a sacrifice fly to left to put the Mudcats in front 1-0.

Montgomery would answer in the top of the second with their biggest frame of the season to that point. Jose Lobaton led off with a single, then after Ryan Royster struck out, Drew Anderson singled and John Matulia doubled to plate Lobaton. Shawn O’Malley grounded out, then Emeel Salem scored Anderson and Matulia with a two-out double to put the Biscuits up 3-1.

They would top the three-inning frame one inning later. Matt Fields led off the third with a single then moved to third on a Cody Cipriano groundout. Lobaton would score Fields with a single, which Anderson followed with his second single. Matulia then hammered his first homer of the season over the right field wall to extend the Biscuits lead to 7-1. They’d add one more in the sixth.

Three Biscuits pitchers scattered four one-run frames on six hits, with Rodriguez (1-0) getting the win and Carolina starter Dallas Buck taking the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits over 2.2 innings pitched.

Sexton had his best night as a Biscuit, recording three hits after coming into the contest with just two on the season. Kris Negron and Jake Kahaulelio each had two hits for the Mudcats.

LHP Jake McGee (0-0, 0.00) makes his second start for the Biscuits on Friday night against the only LHP in the Mudcats rotation, Tom Cochran (1-0, 1.50). First pitch is set for 6:15.
