Jose Lobaton, who went 3-4 to lead the Biscuits, started the fifth inning with a double then scored on John Matulia’s single to make it 1-0. An inning later, Matt Fields hit his second homer of the year, a solo shot to the opposite field to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Biscuits got their final run in the top of the ninth with two outs when Emeel Salem doubled then scored on a throwing error.
Salem and Drew Anderson each had two hits in addition to Lobaton’s three to lead the Biscuits. Three Mudcats players had one hit apiece.
