Big Mo and Biscuits give back for Christmas
MONTGOMERY, AL –Montgomery Biscuits' staff members and mascot Big Mo recently visited the Family Guidance Center in Montgomery to donate presents to a needy family for the holiday season.
The Biscuits Community Relations Coordinator April Catarella worked with representatives from the Family Guidance Center to select a family for donation. This year the chosen family, who has asked to remain undisclosed, included a single mother with three children, ages 10, 7 and 5.
“This opportunity was a simple way for our organization to give back to a community that has been so supportive to us,” said Catarella, “we especially enjoy shopping for families with children and the event is just a small gesture that gets us all in holiday spirit.”
This is the second year the Biscuits organization has worked with the Family Guidance Center to participate in a holiday donation program.
“Community-minded organizations such as the Montgomery Biscuits make a tremendous difference during the holidays and year-round,” according to Meghann Dickert, FGC Emergency Services Coordinator. “This year, the need in the community is at a very high level. Having the Montgomery Biscuits’ Staff step forward in such a positive way is a reflection of the generosity of this community in taking care of its children and families.
After completing the shopping task staff members joined together to wrap the presents. When it came to delivering the gifts, there was only one person or representative the organization had in mind – Big Mo, the Biscuits fun-loving mascot.
Big Mo delivered the gifts, which included two bikes, toys, dolls, clothes and gift certificates to the Family Guidance Center on Wednesday, December 9th. The Family Guidance Center will distribute the gifts to the family as the final part of the process.
