Terranova Vickers Named Woman of Excellence

Biscuits GM honored by the Southern League for the second time

MONTGOMERY, AL – Biscuits General Manager Marla Terranova Vickers has been named the 2011 Southern League Woman of Excellence, as voted on by the league's general managers.

2011 marked the first year for Vickers as GM, and made her only the fifth woman GM in all of minor league baseball. Over the course of her ten years with (Biscuits ownership) Professional Sports Marketing, she has held numerous positions including Assistant General Manager, Director of Sales, and Director of Sponsorship and Marketing. She's considered the first Biscuits employee, having arrived in Montgomery more than a year before the team's first season in 2003.

"I'm very humbled to receive this honor," said Vickers. "It's certainly a reflection of our hard-working staff and our great fans."

It's the second time Vickers has won the award, having been honored in 2006 as well. She is also the Southern League's nominee for Rawling's Woman Executive of the Year Award, which is announced each year by Minor League Baseball at the Winter Meetings.

A native of Eaton Rapids, MI, and a graduate of Central Michigan University, Vickers resides in Montgomery with her husband, John "Tripp" Vickers, who holds the distinction of having submitted "Biscuits" in the name-the-team contest.
