Stars Snap Biscuits' Streak in See-Saw Battle

Biscuits erase 6-0 deficit only to fall 9-8

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Biscuits (67-55/31-23) scored eight-straight runs to erase a 6-0 deficit, only to see the Huntsville Stars (60-64/25-29) rally for the game's final three runs, snapping the Biscuits' winning streak 9-8 Friday at Joe Davis Stadium.

T.J. Mittelstaedt ripped a two-out, two-run single against Marquis Fleming (3-4) in the eighth inning to give the Stars the decisive runs. The Biscuits put the first two on-base in the ninth, but were unable to bring home the tying run against Darren Byrd (5).

The first eight men of the game reached for the Stars to chase Nick Barnese with the score 6-0 before he recorded an out. Shane Dyer (above) entered the game and reeled off five shutout innings facing the minimum, giving the Biscuits' bats time to come alive.

After scoring two in the fourth, the Biscuits strung together seven hits in the fifth inning to plate six runs and take an 8-6 lead on Brett Nommensen's two-run single to center. Had the Biscuits held on, it would have been the largest comeback win of the season.

Kyle Heckathorn (5-11) pitched two perfect relief innings to get the win.

Kyeong Kang led the Biscuits offense, going 3-5 with an RBI and 2 runs.

The two teams conclude the series Saturday at 6:43 when RHP Jake Thompson faces RHP Jimmy Nelson.
