Offense Explodes Late to Back Buschmann

Biscuits score the game's final 8 runs to beat Mobile 8-2

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- The Biscuits (45-37/9-5) scored the final eight runs after trailing 2-0 to defeat the Mobile BayBears (46-38/6-8) 8-2 in the series opener Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Brett Nommensen broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh with an RBI-single to plate Tyler Bortnick. The Biscuits would go on to knock five hits in the inning and score four runs to take a 6-2 lead. Nommensen would add a two-run home run in the eighth inning to cap the scoring and finish off a night where he went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.

Matt Buschmann (3-3) gave the Biscuits another solid start in his first appearance since being transferred from Triple-A Durham. Buschmann (above) gave up two runs while scattering seven hits in seven innings for the win. Kirby Yates (7) pitched two scoreless innings to end the game and grab his team-leading seventh save.

BayBears starter Derek Eitel gave up two runs in six innings for the no-decision. All four runs in the seventh inning were allowed by Bryan Woodall (3-1) who was tagged with the loss.

Hak-Ju Lee went 2-for-5 with two RBI and extended his hitting-streak to 15 games. Kyeong Kang hit his tenth home run of the season to start the scoring for Montgomery.

Game two in the series will be Thursday night at 7:05. RHP Nick Barnese will start for Montgomery while RHP Brett Lorin will counter for Mobile.
